Beautiful park, great location. AMAZING dog park nearby.
On our way south for the winter, we wanted to stop in Madison. The 4 county parks are the cheapest and closest campgrounds to downtown, so after researching all 4, we chose Lake Farm because it had the best reviews and best location. We got the last available spot, so make sure you call ahead (there is a rez fee).
It is a public park next to a well-used bike trail, so there will be passers-by, and they are welcomed to use the facilities, but they were no bother. And, as other reviews have stated, we did see a couple of homeless people hanging out by the restrooms, but at no time did I feel uneasy about them. I noticed one Rv’er even stopped by to give them some leftovers.
There is an incredible dog park nearby with a very large open area, as well as an even larger ‘back area’ of fenced-in hiking trails. It is easily the coolest public dog park we have been to so far. There is a $5 registration fee to help upkeep the park (annual passes available too).
The park only provides electric, but has a dump and fill station on-site. We did not use the facilities.
